Western New York Independent Living, Inc. (WNYIL) is a nonprofit that empowers individuals with disabilities by providing resources for independent living, including advocacy, transportation, financial assistance, peer support, and more.
As the Community Engagement Coordinator & Graphic Designer, I worked on marketing materials like booklets, flyers, banners, and logos. I initiated a rebranding effort, advocating for a stronger brand identity, as the existing logo—a key symbolizing "The Key to Independent Living"—wasn't resonating.
To support a rebrand effort, I conducted field research, surveys with staff and clients, and presented data to the Board of Directors. I convinced them to approve a new logo and website overhaul, improving user experience while implementing the refreshed brand.
The new logo gave each branch of the agency its own color, symbolizing independence, with variations in the figures' stances. After a staff vote, the new branding was rolled out across all materials. I developed easy-to-follow branding standards for colors, fonts, and logo usage, ensuring consistency across all platforms.
The logos, standards, and materials I created are still in use today.
